posterGo Diving! at the Outdoors Show
14 - 16 March 2008

Tens of thousands of scuba and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the UK will be flocking to the Go Diving! Show in Birmingham's NEC between 14 and 16 March 2008.

The 2008 British Underwater Image Festival (BUIF) is among many features at the three-day event and will showcase the best of underwater photography and film talent. The best 50 prints will be on display, while finalists in the film categories will be shown throughout the show on Friday Saturday and Sunday in the BUIF theatre.

Scuba manufacturers will be on hand to talk about their kit and show what's new on the market in a special area provided for the Scuba Industries Trade Association. There is also a try-dive pool for those wishing to persuade friends and family to have a go at scuba.

DIVE's editor Simon Rogerson, senior correspondent Charles Hood and British Society of Underwater Photographers chairman JP Trenque will be speaking at the show. Digital underwater compact photography experts Paul Duxfield and Maria Munn will also be offering advice to visitors.

DIVE magazine has a stand located at the BUIF theatre, where visitors can enter a competition to win a liveaboard trip to the Red Sea worth £1,190, courtesy of Tony Backhurst Scuba Travel.

A ticket to Go Diving! also gains you entry into The Ordnance Survey Outdoors show with exciting sections on everything from rambling to para-gliding. There are specialist areas on lots of exciting outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, mountaineering and biking.

The SanDisk Red Sea World of Underwater Images competition is now in its fourth year. The competition, based in Eilat, Israel, offered a staggering US$80, 000 in prizes last year

The top prize for the best images taken in Eilat during the three days of the Shoot Out included US$ 10,000 courtesy of SanDiskplus plus 3 weeks diving for two to Papua New Guinea, with: Walindi, Loloata Resorts and aboard Star Dancer plus round trip air tickets Singapore - Papua courtesy of Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority

This year's event, which takes place between the 10 - 15th November, is open to all underwater photographers and will be even bigger with an additional category and even more prizes.

And there are rumours of four monthly online competitions in 8 European countries to win US$5,000 and a free trip to compete in the event,

LIDS logoLondon International Dive Show 2008 digital photo clinic
March 8-9, 2008. Submit images for feedback!

Alex Mustardand myself will be co-hosting the Digital Photo Clinic at the London International Dive Show (LIDS) on March 8-9, 2008. The session will run on both days between from 1:45PM-3:00PM and much of this interactive presentation will focus on helping you get better images. Alex will be advising on how to improve your in water photographic techniques and I will be demonstrating how RAW conversion and Photoshop processing can improve those images you have already taken.
